MFW 2011- Songzio

What can I say that has not already been said about Songzio.
It was already presented in Paris Fashion Week to rave reviews. (Brilliant photos on that site btw.)

The styling when presented here, was of course, very different. The cutest hats, where one had to wonder, could the models even see?

And it received nothing less than kowtows in Singapore during its showcase during Men's Fashion Week in Singapore as well. And no wonder.

My impression: A sexy take on the modern urban male samurai warrior. *rawr*

Me likes.

And I shall start with my favourite part of the show first- the slash of red.

Scarlet surprise.

Only three outfits in the whole collection, lent a daring dash of of color to the collection. A punctuation mark, if you will, to excite and make people sit up. It was deliberate. It was well timed, and most certainly, well rendered.

The collection started with this:

Sharp, witty lines were the perfect culmination of geometry and fluidity.

It was as if Brauhaus precision had a one night stand with a panther.
And it showed in the enigmatic outfits, even with the way the models stalked and slinked down the catwalk.

I liked this next pleather look...

The bag. I totally can imagine carrying.

Huge and practical. Though I'm sure it would make my ass look big.

I loved the oriental twists to the collection.

But I loved how everything looked like it would fit in on the streets of London, and yet, had a young fresh look about it.

The obi-like belts were almost like cummerbands that accentuated the core of the male physique. Even though they looked like corsetry, it did not emasculate at all, and instead, heightened the strength of the man for me. It reminded me of Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai.

I just loved this look. I love the way the collar stands, very practical might I add, in the blustery winds.

Very practical. But pretty parka.

I loved the visual texture of this look.

The "Best Designer in Korea" takes a well-deserved bow.

What I like about the collection- how everything is fluid and soft and tactile, and yet maintains its masculinity. Its.. well. Fuckable.

BTW. I want those hats. For my bad hair/face days. They look like the perfect hide-all-sins accessory.

MFW 2011- SGP Showcase Part 4- ATZU

This, was probably one of my most favourite shows of MFW.

For one, it was part of the Singapore Showcase. Which meant everything was local. From the designers, to the producer- Daniel Boey of course, to the music...

And.. this part of the show- ATZU. By my beloved Noah Naima, the handsome Desmond Tan, and Chong Han Ping who for some strange reason, I have never met.

Even thought this was the last show of the day. And the show started super late. It could have started at 3am or the crack of dawn for all I care.. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Here's why:

This was a show that got many rave reviews, and its not hard to see why.

Stunning pieces that were absolutely sublime with their clean lines that were simply put, sculptural artforms.

And to see designs like that perfectly executed... definitely a rare visual treat from the shores of Sunny Singapore.

The line between wearable art, and just plain wacked out weird, is a thin, tremulous one to tread.

But as with all of Noah Naima's designs, one definitely finds that everything, was always perfectly balanced.

So cheers honey..

LOVED.

Can't you imagine me in this.

I like the fact that lines between the sexes are being blurred in fashion. And I loved this pinafore and coveted it myself. When it came out on the runway I kept hearing the "Madeleine" song in my head.

Thought it was a good job by designer Samuel Wong,. Now stocked at blackmarket, his brand is only 2 months old. So to be showcasing at MFW.. its definitely a good start.

I would totally wear this look myself.

I was both excited, yet perturbed by the metallic, liquid leggings on the men. While I liked the look on the runway. I'm not so sure if I could stomach it if my man friend donned a pair of these.

Hmm.

Ok. Maybe he's slightly different. He probably could carry them off.

Dang. I hate him for that.

I loved the way the back of this black tee moved when the model walked. It reminded me of the show tattoo. Where the tattoo was a living, breathing entity.

My fave look.

Almost like a mythological creature. This was my fave look from Sabrina because it was uncharacteristically dark.

If you meet her, you will realise that she is a loving person full of light. And most of it comes through in her fashion. Not sure where she reached into to get this look, but I'm guessing, there's definitely a deep story behind it.

I still love her female collection though. My Elohim dress is probably one of my go to LBD's.

I am, and have always been, a big fan of theirs since I met them a long time ago when they first stocked at Blackmarket.

Loved the capes. Loved the structure. They always consistently produce good, clean work, so it was no surprise that the collection went down well.

You definitely will be seeing many a male stylista donning their outfits once they arrive in stores this July.

Meet Sue-Anne Lim. LOVE her, and her hubby's energy. Two incredibly effortlessly stylish people.

I was totally jealous of the cutest UNDERCOVER purse she was toting, that came with attached glove. Oh. Just typing that and my heart just skipped a little.

Her hubby, is none other than SBTG's artist, Mark Ong.

Incredibly stylish man himself, Bote was just adorable.

I loved his outfit, and.... I would have bought everything in the store for a guy if I could.

Even Bryanboy loved him.

He had a Thom Browne aesthetic with a slight asian twist to his collection. Tailored for the Asian fit mostly. Shorts which are cut at the length most flattering to an Asian guys legs (as they usually, tend to be rather on the skinny side and look like chicken legs if berms are too long).

Yeah. It might not be avant garde. But how often can you say you can find good quality fashion, with great cuts, great tailoring, that fit well, and BONUS- totally made for the Asian climate.

Totally wearable.

Totally preppy.

Totally geek chic.

Oh. Have I mentioned I'm a sucker for men in specs? *grin*

MFW 2011- Passion X Jason Menswear

Hot.

If there was just one word to describe the Passion X Jason Menswear show during MFW 2011, it would be just that.

Here's a quick rundown:

Dread locked hair on men. Mostly bare bodied. Walking around in denim. It was like Twilight made an army of Jacob clones and let them loose on the catwalk. *rawr* Me likes.

Men wearing skirts, I have never realised how sexy skirts can look on a man.

And.. Finale: A twist- all the men's hair got chopped.

Now let's get into the details.

Who else could command a front row like that, except star-maker, David Gan.

Ping Hui, Fiona Xie, Christopher Lee, Fann Wong, Joanne Peh, Bobby Tonelli, Felicia Chin

The list goes on.

And on.

In our humble corner.. We had..

My angel.. Roro.

Whom I love and adore.

And totally would die for.

Though its probably best he didn't know that.

And fashionistas, Jerome Awasthi (stylist genius) and Nabil of onesixtynotepad

(The team of three just had a revamp for their website and it looks sooo pro now. Wah!)

THE SHOW:

The show was opened by none other than "His Highness"

Prince Philip.

I actually liked his walk in the Passion show. Maybe it was the scepter. I don't know. But he definitely had a swagger.

His dread locked extensions took 5 people to prep.

I squealed when I saw him on the catwalk!

My friend Derrick Kong. Looking delicious.

He's from Upfront Models and is a total darling.

And was totally hot.

The next two pictures, were my awakening to just how hot men can look in skirts.

Now this, is total credit to Jason Menswear. I loved the drape and flow of the man-pant-skirts. They looked amazing on the runway. And I still can't get them out of my mind.

How JR Chan (brand formerly known as Cloak and Dagger) rendered denim in so many ways, was also masterful.

But what I love, clean, precision cuts. Great tailoring. Fantastic lines. No nonsense.

I love the androgyny of it all. And I would totally wear so many of the pieces. Menswear my ass.

I just took a quick gander at the Jason facebook page, and saw this...

JASON THE CHARACTER:

Jason was born on 7/7/87, a Cancerian, he is full of contradictions.

He is someone who questions and asks why boys can’t be girls and why girls can’t be boys?

He is someone who breaks stereotypes, challenges creative boundaries and pushes limits. Before he creates, he destroys.

He believes that fashion is part of him, because he does not walk around in the nude.

He is an endearingly eccentric boy who hates to be constrained by worldly rules.

His style changes, as the world is constantly changing.

Aah.

That explains a lot. No wonder I liked the aesthetics. Me Cancer. Jason Cancer.

We're both full of contradictions. Questions. The only difference - I do walk around in the nude.

MFW 2011- Kim Choong Wilkins

Undoubtedly one of the best surprise showcases of the Men's Fashion Week, Kim Choong-Wilkins, half-brit+half-singaporean = totally hot.

His collection was superb and definitely a visual treat.

I first interviewed him when I spotted him last year at the Audi Fashion Festival. Something about his manner made has kept me watching out for him, and when I saw the name again on this years schedule for MFW... I did a little flip.

FINALLY... I would get to see Bodybound!

And it definitely did not disappoint.

(unfortunately, I only have a humble point and shoot that doesn't do too well with motion shots. So 'scuse the blurry shots, and take them with a pinch of salt and consider them artistic ok? Till someone sponsors me with a GOOD camera. heh.)

Now during this year's interview, much of which I could not include in our footage, Kim shared a lot of different things about his collection.

My favourite quote:

"I wanted to create a collection, where the clothes demand of the wearer as well. So its not a one way thing."

Each piece has such intricate studding, and such elaborate work.. I was honestly awed.

Kim Choong-Wilkins, who studied and graduated from St. Martins in 2005, first presented his Bodybound collection in the Royal College of Art in 2009.

But he tweaked the collection to be featured here, to suit his current aesthetic.

"I think if you are not working till the very last second, you haven't worked hard enough."

My fave piece of the collection.

I fondly term it "le porcupine".

Of course that is not the real name.

There is something very sensual, and very tactile about Kim's knitwear, that also demands of the people around it.

Looking at someone wearing his pieces, demands an energy, and provokes a reaction and thought as well.

To me, it is the perfect combination. When art and fashion collide.

Though this shot is blur, the top, almost spray on, reminded me of an armadillo.

I didn't manage to get close shots, but the slick, wet, almost rubber, superhero like material, from some angles, looked like circuitry on a motherboard of a computer.

Made the model, to me, look like he was hardwired.

And seriously, how much more manly can these wide legged trousers look even though they can appear like skirts.

Like modern day terracota warriors, with slick armor.

Awesomely sexy.

No price point yet on these babies. But, the talented Maximewas spotted wearing a specially made custom piece.

Just in case you didn't click.. the last link stars Kim Choong-Wilkins, head to toe in Mcqueen.

"I might do one for you in with pearls," he said when I asked if he was going to do anything for women.

Hell no. I love the pieces, cold and hard and prickly. Just the way they are.

This rendang+local food loving creative genius has collaborated with the great and late Alexander McQueen, Jasper Conran, Ermenegildo Zegna, Katie Eary and Matthew Williamson, so definitely one to watch.

So even though he says he hasn't made anything for women so far. I can't wait to wear one of his pieces.

I don't care even if I am weighed in under 5 kg of studs. I suffer for fashion all the time.

My cc bills are a constant reminder of that. -_-

MFW 2011- Raoul

Now I usually admittedly, don't buy that much from Raoul. I like their stuff for sure, but its never really been on my priority list.

But this year, their Fall/Winter showing at Men's Fashion Week left me pleasantly surprised.
I did spot a couple of my straight guy friends in the show, and I did notice when they raised their eyebrows and sniggered - thin leather pullovers, burgundy leather tops.

But there were many items that they did sit up and body language pretty much said, "Uh huh, I might wear that."

This was a cool image. Loved the color blocking on the shirts, though it didn't seem to rock the boats of my straight guy friends.

Think this was Philip Huang again.

Color blocking. Good.

A gal friend of mine said this was her fave look of the show.
Clean. Light grey. Crisp.

Johnny Yang Junze, one of my fave models of the season.
Love his look, and his walk. And the cool hoodie trench combi didn't hurt.

My personal fave of the collection were the color contrasts on the Raoul suits.
Charcoal with slate. Dove grey with charcoals.
I loved how it made the suits pop.

I strangely, also liked the thin rubberbands that the models had donned as hairbands to keep their hair back. Footballers do it. Sports players do it. I don't know why I like it.
Maybe it just brings my back to my Ah lian days, when Ah Beng's used to wear thin hairbands.

Undoubtedly, best part of the show, was the finale, when the models all walked out en masse.

All different looks despite the same color combis, showcasing the range that Raoul truly has.

It looked pretty impressive.

Plus... Many men. At once. Marching out.

Hot.

Sometimes, the best times, are with your camera men, after shoots.

And somehow... Feeling free.

What many people don't realise, is that behind every video we do. There are tons of people behind it. And tons of hours as well. Camera men, video editors.. they put their heart and soul, and lots of sweat into videos too.

One of my fave camera men to hang out with... Raju.

Always has something to say. Also fond of transforming into rogue reporter, occasionally interjecting during interviews to shoot off his own questions.. and the best part... when he rides!

Its' hella fun!

Apparently I'm the only person who doesn't need the rests to mount the bike cos my legs are really long.

But nothing.. can beat the feeling of freedom. Wind whipping in your hair. That burst of exuberation as my heart leaps with the thrill of being in a bike.

Sometimes the best things in life are free.

I'm not sure.

Maybe I'm biased. Or maybe its just that I'm a girl and I notice boys more. (Which I highly doubt. Natural competitiveness in women would ensure otherwise.)

But, it seems like more boys put in effort when dressing for school. Most of the gals I saw, mostly wore T shirts and shorts. Good for the guys in school because they see an endless sea of legs. But most of them, looked like each other.

Written 15th May 09 --------------------- So the game is up. The battle is almost over and reality has sunk in. We have done all we could have possibly done. We tried our best. But, it looks like, our best just isn't good enough. Not this season anyway. I have tried my best. I am going to come right out and be open with all of you. This year, was the first time, I really and truly fell in love. Don't get me wrong, I have been in love before. But this is probably the first time that everything seemed to be in place. I gave fully. I fell totally. I loved completely. And I gave it my all. That might not seem much to many, but I am a huge commitment phobe. I have been hurt many times before and the weight of all that has always previously stopped me from putting everything in. From letting my guard down and really trusting. Giving 100%. I was truly the happiest I have ever been and people could see it. I was shining from the inside out. Radiant. Happy. And I actually felt free! I always have felt that relationships were, sort of restraining. Constraining. I hated reporting. I was scared of the idea of just.. well... One. Especially since there were so many choices out there. And what if i had the wrong one?! Unfortunately, as hard as I tried. Maybe fate, the stars the moon, God, whatever it is that controls these things, deemed it not my season either. Just as much as Liverpool had the perfect season. As perfect as it possibly could have been. I thought I had found the perfect love. Just as I have looked here and there, trying to see where Liverpool could have done better. Played better. Maybe if Torres and Gerrard were fighting fit throughout the season. If we didn't have Keane come in and out. Maybe if he was ready for the relationship. Maybe if I didn't say this or that. Maybe if Rafa didn't rotate the squad as erratically. As much as I have questioned, I can't come up with any logical answers. Sometimes, Life just isn't fair. Maybe, this just isn't our time. I can't see anything that Liverpool could have done anything different. Yes, they deserve to win. They deserve to touch the silverware with the effort they have put in. And I am so proud that till now, they are still not giving up. They're not just falling apart because the Devils look set to steal the cup yet again this season. They're still giving it all they've got. I am proud of myself too. I have learnt that I can commit. I can be happy. My heart can give freely. One thing I've always been scared of, I learnt that when I am truly in love, I definitely won't do. I, am not a cheater. Despite all the chances. I never did. Even though me and "the ex" have been apart for some time, I haven't gone back to my usual ways and just started serial dating again. Tearing through the guys in my wake. Using them to distract me from my pain. I just have tried to be a friend. But, Life goes on. United will meet Arsenal tomorrow. And naturally, I don't want to see United win. I want to see Arsenal give it all they've got and wipe that smug smile of the devil's faces. Show them it isn't going to be that easy. That the rest of the teams, we're are all going to continue striving to knock them off their pedestals. If they get their 18th cup. Kudos. But they aren't the only ones around here. And we aren't going down without a fight. This season, I learnt to love. To my fellow Liverpool fans, and to my mending heart, there is always this August. See you at the flyer.

Written 8th May 09 --------------------- "And so it is. Just like you said it would be..." Beautiful song. Melancholic. And yes, rather depressing. Some people say that the script has already been written. A friend of mine, Andrew, told me the other day at a wedding no less,"Don't you know. Football is all rigged." He went on to reveal the conspiracy theory that seems to be on everyone's mouths, that since so many people keep saying it, I doubt it will actually happen. Like I've always said. My love life and my love for Liverpool, always seems to run parallel. The verdict: I have accepted. I am at peace. We had a good run. Fantastic. Almost a dream. But maybe for some strange reason. Its just not our time yet. (And yes, even relationships need their fair share of time, and effort, before it can bloom. Doesn't it seem at all, like next year is going to be a brilliant year for Liverpool?!) Someone wrote in last week, and besides making my day by saying, "Apart from that (meaning football, TV and guys nights out), I don't think there's any guy out there who wouldn't want to date you. Awwww.... But, I have to agree with him on one thing. The United match against Arsenal, snuffed the remaining ember of hope. Like when an ex blocks you on MSN or facebook. Arsenal, and their match against United on May 16th, seemed like our last card in our favour and now, while I am still gunning for the gunners. I have let go. What will be, will be. Que sara sara. We will have our time. And I, will eventually find happiness. (I hope.) I am glad that United will be facing Barcelona though. Give them a bit of a fight. Even Jillyn, our videographer, and a little dynamo of a fab female footballer and a die-hard Man-U fan was awed by the way Barca goes in with a formation that would do the Black Knights proud. I'm just happy that a team, with such flair and fluidity might be able to take United down a few pegs. It has become rather boring seeing Manchester United sweep up all the silverware. In fact, I'm hoping that a "Brawn-Merc" type thing happens sometime soon in the EPL. Shake things up a bit. In the meantime. About how the story is going to end. If Robbie Keane is really going to score at the last minute against Liverpool, sending my boys spiralling down to a crushing defeat and doing a "in your face" at Rafa, well I'm willing to do anything that is within reasonable request. Yes. Its a bet. I think it won't happen. So send in your requests, dare me, bet with me, if you think it will happen. And please, be a man, do the right thing, and wager something yourself. The last 12 months. Have been truly mind boggling.This is truly a year that has proven that anything, can, and will happen.

It has been full of nothing but surprises.

Less than 8 months ago, in August, our local paddlers ping-ponged their way to getting Singapore our first Olympic medal in decades. Now, Li Jiawei, is expecting a baby bonus.

In September, against all odds, Laurentia Tan rode her way to 2 Olympic medals. And if ever anyone has thought that is easy, they should see me when I am trying to ride a horse. Or hop onto the i-gallop. (I've always wanted to try, but I've been deathly afraid the mechanism will throw me off to immense public humiliation in some shopping centre. That, plus, I don't want people snapping candid shots of me with their camphones, in what, when well cropped, could look incriminatingly like I was in some softporn flick. Especially if I really actually enjoy it.)

With the way Ferrari was dominating F1 when Micheal Schumacher was around, I never thought I'd see the day that the first black racer, in a team I support, would clinch the F1 World championship, and months later have a brand new, upstart team, that almost didn't even make it into the grand prix, sweep so many victories with a car that had hardly been tested at all.

It has been a year where Micheal Phelps won medals, then was caught smoking marijuana. No more cornflakes for him.

This has been a year, where lets face it, Liverpool has been playing the best football we've played in the last 19 years. We still have cracks. But, just to see it happen, to witness it now, to see them when they are on fire and scoring goals. That, is amazing in itself. This is one of those years where I have looked at the team and am proud to say I am a fan. Yes. They are out of the Champions League. Something which, frankly, at this point, I am grateful for, because all they have to do, is keep fighting fit, and keep their eye on the prize.

Yes. There have been times where I have wondered what the hell Rafa was doing. But then again. Don't we all think that we can do better? If not, games like Championship Manager and fantasy football would cease to exist.

This is the year, that I, little old me, took a photo with Ethan Hawke.

And Liverpool, is coming to town!

Do you have any idea what that means?

Anything is possible!

Whatever looks horrible right now, could be turned around completely. Anything that looks like a sure thing, could always go wrong.

I have been deathly jealous of all these fans, who have written in to me about heading up to Anfield to make the pilgrimage before it gets torn down. But if they come to town, who knows?! I might get a chance to see them in person. The squad. Stand next to them. Maybe even poke them to make sure they are real. I just have to find out how to get a hold of tickets to get my tush in there when they are here.

And tone it up with tons of pilates before they come of course, because hottie Megan Fox claims its how she gets her itty bitty waist. (I knew I shouldn't have stopped my classes two months ago.)

This might also be the year, where Liverpool might finally be sold! To Indians! I have absolutely no qualms about keeping it Asian. Might mean they come to visit more often!

All I'm saying is. It's not over till its over.

Even Obama said, this, is the season of change.

All we have to do, is just sit back. And watch.

Does your love for your team resemble your love life? Guys. Help me out here. Am I really alone in this? I am a girl who ultimately, is clueless about guys and relationships. So in this column, I'm going to plead for your help, and include my personal email address so that you can possibly give me advice. Big, small, I'd appreciate it all. Now I've said that Liverpool's are hopeless romantics. Man Utd fans are diehards and Arsenal fans are always passionate and opinionated. Well, I've also observed some others. Everton fans for example, they are sneaky ones aren't they? They are the types who fly just under the radar, but they're actually strong contenders. One thing I would say about them, if you are competing for love against an Everton fan, woooo, you'd better watch out. They are unassuming. But they bring the punch when it counts. Funnily enough, I was discussing this with my friend Prakash, and we both have great respect for Tottenham Hotspur fans. I know its strange. Man. They are a breed to be admired. Year in year out, they have this great hope for their team. Every year, hoping this is the year. Every week, they get excited. Almost every week, they get disappointed. I'd bet most of you were probably secretly rooting for them during the FA cup too. And girls out there, if you have a Spur's fan as a boyfriend. I swear, he probably will be the most patient, long-suffering, tolerant guys on the surface of this earth. They're dreamers for sure. Maybe a bit deluded to some. But wow. Dedication. So I understand fan types and how they apply to relationships. But what about a guy that doesn't watch soccer at all?! Well. Exactly. Mine's rather tricky. Well, not mine anymore, hence why I need help. (Unless you're applying for the job) You see, Loving this guy is pretty much like loving Liverpool. A surprising great beginning this year. Unexpected. And just when you feel like you've struck the lottery, the cushy astroturf looking shagpile rug got pulled out from under me. Me flat on face. Its precisely like watching the 2nd leg of the Champion's League match. The first half started out so good. Then it started getting bad. Last minute, our luck started turning and things looked up. At the end of it all. A draw. Which led us back to square one. Don't even get me started on the own goal. Mirrors how I usually have the "foot put in mouth" disease. Ok guys. This is where I'm asking, no, begging. From a fellow football fan to another. What do guys want. Really? Ah yes. And in case I forget. Written 10th April 09 ----------------------- Ohoh. We're in trouble. Someone's come along and its burst our bubble. *sara singing and dancing to the super old tune * Well. Le sigh. It seems both my teams are doing badly. McLaren. Fail.Liverpool. Fail. Pretty much a a mirror of my love life. Uh huh.(Don't ask. Still raw. But like a typical Liverpool fan. Love and loyalty never die. We're like oxen in that sense.) And a mirror is exactly what Gerrard seemed to have during the match against Chelsea. The poor baby has injured his groin! Ok. So itwasn't. It's his hamstring. But groin sounds a lot sexier. And Essienwas a total mosquito. The match was so frustrating as a Liverpool fanthat I could hardly watch after Chelsea was up 2-1. It seemed mere mintues before that a Chelsea fan (cfcghimpheng) had justcongratulated me on Torres's goal on sms. Let's not even get me started on McLaren. I've long been a fan ofHamilton. Largely because he overcame many odds to be last years worldchampion. But if its one thing I loathe. Its LIES. Oh. And bad acting. And I'm not talking about Days of our Lives. Which I was so addictedto when they still aired it on TV when I was younger. I'm talking about players who roll on fields, like they were juststeamrolled and kenah "go-stunned" on. Get penalty kicks, corner kicksor throw ins for the team while they limp, or are stretchered off thefield, female fans hearts all over the world aching. And then in a blink of an eye, they're jogging back on the field like they just went for a picnic! Now what the hell is that all about?! When did soccer become the next WWE? I thought the days of Maradona, who by the way, was never a good actor and I wonder how he got away with it all the time, were over. I guess its probably like how Scarlett Johansson can get away with being an "A-list" actress despite her lack of depth in every role, based on,well, two reasons that keep her reputation, "afloat" thanks to their distracting qualities. Heh. Like my sis would say. She only makes the A list because of her D cup. Meow. *claws retract* Now one guy I actually pity, and should totally take up some acting classes.. Rooney.

c21b + Tsumori Chisato Opening

So there were tons of events on Friday night. And the one most people were looking foward to.. the Club21b opening, alongside the new Tsumori Chisato shop opening.

And I can't believe it.

I got to meet my idol!!!! Tsumosi Chisato herself!

She was lovely. And frankly, for a chatter and non-stop talker, I really did not know what to say. Which is rather unusual for me. I really do love her work, so I was probably a little awestruck.

Her quirky designs. Her free spiritedness in design... I half expected her energy to be more hyper. Except.. she was very zen.

Probably overwhelmed by the number of photo requests.

Am in the pic with Tsumori, and my bobo baby. Whom I love dearly. He's like a brother. Friend. And son rolled into one.

And my boob is glowing. I found out.. thanks to an oily smudge on my camera lens.

The club 21b showcase started, atypically, on time.

Looks like sheer might be in for men. As seen on boy in blue. Ah bengs pioneered this look back in the 90's with sheer windbreakers and it looks like it might make a resurgence.

Also spotted, Yang Junze. Johnny. One of my fave models for this season. (On left in pastel camo.)

As seen all over the catwalks, and at the Club 21b showcase as well... Bare midriffs. So get your crunches going girls.

Loved the construction of the skirt. Very Alaia. Feminine. Falls well. Flattering. And I HEART Alaia.

Overall, it was a decent night. It was a good crowd, and a good party. Just, the showcase left people feeling confused and was a little long. Either the models were taking a long time to change or something wasn't right because there were long awkward moments of silence where everybody was wondering what was going on.

HOWEVER...

It must be said that the new stores that all the hubbub was about are definitely are worth checking out, and if not for having to rush off or work, I would have taken more pics.

I like the new woodsy feel of club21b. It definitely feels more inviting and less intimidating than before. The lighting has also gone more yellow. And it definitely has a good collection of Opening Ceremony. J'adore!

The Tsumori store is really bright, and the lights might deter me when I have no makeup on. But with all the prints being so bright and cheery inside, I'd definitely head in when I need a mood lift.

Meanwhile, WORK BECKONS!

Silence.

This week, I've learnt all about silence. How to keep still. How to let things be. How to not get so nervous and paranoid about everything. One of the great football coaches of our generation once said something like, " If you go in thinking you might lose the game, then you've already lost."

I can't for the life of me remember who it was, but its stuck in my head. And its absolutely true.

Whether you are in a relationship, battling an illness, or well, playing football.

All the great sportsmen in the world have it. This, self belief. Inner confidence. I think its why we see men reduced to boys, crying on their knees when it comes to losses because they so firmly believed they were going to win.

They have a focus. Tunnel vision. Where they tune everything out. The noise from within. The noise from outside.

No hearing, "Don't mess up this penalty boy." in your head. No hearing of the crowds jeering "Yer yenny boo boo you can't make it" while you take the shot.

Inner calm.

And patience. To strike at the right moment. To know when to make your move and capitalize on it. Because one second too early, and a tennis pro's serve won't be as powerful. One second too late, and the winds can change and a golfer's ball will land up in the rough. Life is all about taking chances. About being patient so you can reap the benefits of what you sow.

That is provided you have put in the time and done all the legwork of course. And Bob Marley is great to listen to, but that whole "No woman no cry" theory, that's just fear and escapism. And some highly controversial vegetation talking. That's the easy way out.

If you want the woman, the prize, the trophy, who cares about whether or not you cry. You put in 100%. Give it your all. No regrets.

So I say this to my teams. Liverpool and Mclaren alike. There have been ups and downs. But you have put in the time, you have slaved, toiled, trained for hours. Just be consistent. Be patient. Be still.

We've all seen how Liverpool plays when they are getting nervy. They lose balls they shouldn't. Miss goals my grandma (may she rest in peace) could make. And they mess up. We all do. Its like when you go on a first date with girl and you are nervous and start rambling on and on, thinking you are doing well.

Then on the way home, you retrace your conversation, and realising you spent 2 hours talking about your love for licking glue off the back of enevelopes and stamps like it was the world's most fascinating thing, while she was twirling her hair and texting like she wanted to win the "fastest fingers first" segment on "Who wants to be a millionaire."

It always happens especially when something is really important and means a lot to you. You want it to be perfect. You put so much pressure on yourself to do well that in the end... you implode.

To Liverpool: Guys, you will always be my men. So just play it cool. Put your head in the game, but don't lose it. We have our shot now, but win or lose. We're still behind you.

To my dear boys at McLaren. I know it seems like I stepped out on you while I posed for pics and raved about Nico Rosberg while you were in Singapore last year. It probably was a case of well, the fact that Nico was such a nice, polite and obliging chap. And look how perfect he looks in this photo, almost like a wax figure. Oh so yummy.

But I digress.

They've taken away our points, but they can't take away our spirit.

And at the end of it all, brains always trumps brawn anyway.

What matters is what's on the inside. And wait. Right no, aren't Brawn using our engines anyway, eh?

Her Blog- Attraction vs Committment

Attraction is not a choice. Committment is.

Loyalty to a football club, is pretty much like a relationship. You are attracted to whatever team, for whatever reasons. Whether it be a particular player. The color of the jersey. Where the team is from. Sometimes because your best friend, your family, your boyfriend liked the team. Some people like to align themselves with winners, others with underdogs. But for whatever reason it maybe, attraction to a team, is like attraction to a woman.

To others she might be plump. Too skinny. Her hair might be too ah lian. Face too round. Butt too big. (Is it really true that guys like big butts? Because if so I don't understand why I'm having a problem with men. Hmnph.) But when you are attracted to this person, all her flaws, while there, stop holding any significance in your eyes. She is hot. She is perfect. Ok. Maybe I won't go so far as to say perfect. Because even Leonardo DiCaprio split up with the icon of feminine perfection otherwise known as Gisele Bundchen, sending my situp regimen spiralling down to the deeper depths of hell because I realised even the most fantastic of abs will not help me hold on to a man.

Now over the last week I've been subject to a lot of criticism. Some crying bloody murder. Outraged that I have the gall to call myself a Liverpool fan because I am well, a fashionista not quite keen on showing up in an outdated jersey dress from more than 5 seasons ago.

To these people I say, hold your horses my men. Steady on.

COMMITTMENT. Is what you want in a woman.

Is it not enough, that I have continued to support Liverpool despite the fact that for a large part of my life, 19 years to be exact, that we have not brought home anything worth a spit shine? In fact, I was too young to appreciate the beauty of how well they were doing when I was a young un watching with my dad. And even he has given up.

Don't blame him. The man has already had a triple bypass. It's for his health we don't have cable.

Yes, I am critical of them. Sometimes blatantly so. Like a husband irritated with his wife of many years. Occasionally, the temptation to wrap my fingers around Rafa's throat when the squad comes out in some ridiculous rotation is overwhelming. But no. Just like a husband knows that killing his wife would not be the best of decisions, I knew that Rafa's departure at any point of this season, would have been untimely. It would have thrown the squad off. And well, look now. It does seem like we have done the impossible. And I don't wanna jinx things just yet, so I'd still like to remain strongly critical and skeptical we will win. (While crossing my fingers behind my back of course.)

The last two weeks, have been phenomenal. I've felt like one of those players who has scored a fantastic point, and jumps with jubilation and almost breaks out into a victory jig, before realising that modesty is probably best, the war is not won, and bites down on his lips to stop breaking out into a cocky smile.

I don't care that my Liverpool over the years has gotten "fat" at times. Played dumb. Ignored my pleas and cries for attention. Yes there was a time where even my passion for him burnt out. But I didn't stray. Wasn't attracted like a magpie to other clubs with their shiny silver things and other bling bling. My heart stayed. And it will, no matter how this season goes.

Yes. The inner me right now is already decked out, pom poms raring to go. All I need, is a donation of a new jersey dress, and I'm all set. (Though I'm not even sure they make those anymore, I've been searching online for weeks to no avail.)

And even better, there is something else now on the scene that has gotten my blood purring. The roar of a good engine has always been able to turn my knees to jelly. Ladies and gentleman, hold on to your knickers because the cars are roaring back to town. Yup, the F1 season is revving back up, and I'd better hurry up to book a suite at Marina Mandarin. I am looking forward to watching the race in September in style baby, and most importantly, in airconditioned comfort.

Mascara and foundation streaming down your face does not a pretty face make. Who cares if they pee in their suits. When you meet a racecar driver, any gal worth her guccis would know that even if you don't know their names, you have got to put your best face forward.

So its D-Day.

Well at least it is for me. Crunch time is around the corner and quite honestly, its getting harder to type as my palms start getting slick with sweat.

That whole, "Men sweat, women glisten" thing. Hogwash. Don't buy it dudes. We sweat alright. Its just that from a young age, its been seared into our cerebral cortex that the importance of investing in a good deodorant and/or anti-pespirant, should never be underrated.

Which is why I never like going to the gym with people. I am not one of those chicks who color co-ordindates yoga outfits to display my buns in the glass displays of a gym while running on a treadmill like a hamster. The perfectly matched, immaculately made up clones freak me out. When I run, i get huffy, puffy, blotchy and quite honestly I definitely look grumpy.

Afterall, my father, whom I've unfortunately inherited my allergy to sports and physical activity from, (its heriditary, naturally) always says, "Have you ever seen a man smiling while running?"

I rest my case.

Getting into a good sweat does feel good of course. From time to time. In between snacks. And during tv commercials to free from sustenance from the fridge. You do hear them calling out to you too don't you?

But right now, I am sweating from my palms. My forehead. I keep shaking my legs. Biting my nails. Not a pretty picture.

Now I know many of you think it isn't a title race match any longer.

So many spoof articles have been written about how Man United can "lose" the race. That's how unlikely it is at this point.The thing is, even if we have fallen out of contention. Its about pride.

I can understand why Mourinho punched a guy (allegedly), after losing to Manchester United. Nobody wants to lose to them.You know how you can walk around Singapore and guess where some people have studied. AC boys are the easiest to pick out. Kinda like Manchester United fans.

No one wants to give them gloating rights. Especially since they walk around with that strut like they ARE the champions. All the time. (I was just referring to Man Utd fans in this case, so AC boys, please, no threats with knives or bullets and definitely, no mauling.)

This weekend I'll be in the ABU-NBU challenge trailed by my crew from RazorTV. And why would I want to lose to the devils when it means I have to snog 10 of their fans if we lose?

Now, I am hoping at best, for a draw. I am a realist.

Lets take a look at the facts here. United is probably still cruising from the high of defeating Inter. Fergie has a happy, healthy well rested squad that he is spoilt for choice for his lineup. Plus, he has "nice, arrogant" players who are willing to fight to defend their looks even. What more the title?!

And lets take a look at my side. Rafa rotates the squad, trying to do what Fergie does, but he can't, because well, we simply don't have the same depth of players. Where Fergie has said he won't leave, not for a long time. Our team wonders if Rafa will stay on. If our team will be sold. Which players will stay and which will go.

With such uncertainty, how can anyone perform at their best?

Right now, Liverpool's players probably feel like investment bankers.

Yes we thrashed Real, but all 'Pool fans know that usually, after a fantastic win, we kinda tend to fizzle off. Like a virgin boy who sees a naked woman in the flesh for the first time. We need a team that is like Sting.

Not one bopping to the melodic strains of Phil Collins.

That being said, Man U fans, line yourselves up at Clarke Quay this Saturday then boys. Cos I have a feeling I might have to be doing a little kissing.

The First ever Her Blog in TNP

I used to write the Her Blog column for TNP. And I sorta miss being able to comment about Sports. I've been meaning to archive all my articles.. and this, was the very first.

"Hey! I saw your comments on TNP... smoke your way through only la!", said this old friend who bumped into me during dinner the other day.

Now that pisses me off.

Why is it that whenever a female makes some comment about sports, men are so quick to dismiss it? And for some strange reason, we can never be given the credit for any incisive thought or reasoning. No no, we are not capable of coming out with sound logic when it comes to sport because that, is a men's territory.

I am not a new convert to sports. I might be allergic to the sun, which ultimately, by default, makes me allergic to almost every sporting activity under the sun, but I've always been a rough and tough tomboy since I was a little kid, so why is it, that many waxes later, I am rendered suddenly incapable of making sensible sporting insights?

Is it the clothes? The hair? The makeup? The lack of the upper lip shadow? Or the fact that I shave my legs and go for manis and pedis religiously?

Do I have to don a sack and let my underarms become a makeshift jungle gym for toddlers before I can be taken seriously?

I host RazorActive BPL Monday Mouthoff's with a guest presenter each week on RazorTV. Most of our guests who come to the studio, are male, and its a testosterone laden session, with me lending the only gender balance to the ratio. And its not easy.

Naturally, being 100% female, I am still prone to the usual female appreciation of the male aesthetic.

Sportsmen are, afterall, chiselled like greek gods. What is there not to love?

But just because I do the occasional internalised wolf whistle, and my eyes sometimes get distracted by the way the wind tousles a players hair, just so, well, that does not mean that my opinions are any less valid.

Dad was the one who cultivated my love for Liverpool when I was a wee lass and our telly took 30 mins to warm up enough to have visuals. But when the days of cable came along shortly after the demise of Singaland's only shortlived free-to-air sports channel, my father, citing conspiracy theories to backup his distrust of anything that required wires to be pulled into the home, meant that basketball, football, tennis and most major sporting events were no longer at my fingertips.

This, coupled with the fact that Liverpool seemed to lose every match I caught, winning the few that I missed, led to my interest waning.

The sinker was when I was dating, and my boyfriend at the time simply refused to tear his eyes of the tube when a soccer match was on even when I pranced around naked. With beer in hand. While doing splits.

Needless to say, I do not like competition.

At least not from 11 sweaty men.

My self-esteem took a nosedive and my support for sports dwindled to the occasional score update.

These days though, thanks to the wonders of the internet, and even Kopitiams having cable, I am well informed and updated. Even if I'm not near a TV, I can access live updates via Wifi from my handphone and listen to live updates on BBC. I read TNP and the Sports News voraciously and soccernet and barclays are now on my bookmarked favourites.

I do not know all the statistics on every single team and player, nor do I claim to. But I do know Scolari has been sacked. Van de Sar has set a new goalie record, Beckham will soon equal Bobby Moore's record for caps, and personally, the most distressing to me, Gerrard likes Phil Collins.

If a big manly soccer captain of a guy can be in touch with his feminine side, then why can't a fun-loving fashionista love sports?

I don't watch sports just for one handsome sonofagun. I don't watch a sport just because whoever I am dating likes it. I watch, because I like it. I like the strategy. The camarederie. The spirit. The game.

Whether it be basketball, soccer, tennis, or even pool.

And, even better, these days I don't have to compete for attention.

Oh. Did I forget to mention?

I don't have a boyfriend.

He didn't fit into any of the clips that we had. But it has always been one of my favourite pictures. And all pics, have been taken on a simple point and shoot. So forgive the quality. Or lack thereof.

Ok. first post was an exercise we had to do on a course. So nothing at all about what I really write... and mean....

BUT....

I figured this might be a good place to put up what I write for the HER BLOG series as well. Since most of the times I am pretty long winded and the poor editors land up having to cut my stuff. Obviously.. I can't put up stuff that is too current. But since its a new year.. I'm guessing it shouldn't be any harm to put up stuff from last year right?

Gets me back into the swing of actual blogging maybe.

tanjong pagar

Tanjong Pagar is a place in the CBD that has a lot of history. At least it is according to Wiki, the omniscient cyber presence, because I wouldn’t have lived here on earth long enough to know.

Now, there are lots of places rich in cultural history that you can visit in this business district. And if that is your cup of tea, fine with me. Enjoy.

But first, you might have to know how to get there. The easiest way, would be to get off at the Tanjong Pagar MRT station, that is on the East West line of the MRT.

What I do find interesting about Tanjong Pagar though, are their nightspots. Many of which are closely guarded secrets to people “in the know”.

Though, if you do google Tanjong Pagar, THIS dodgy website does come up as the first few links on the search. Weird huh. Heh. I wonder what it has to do with the area at all.

Anyways, one place that has long been popular, is UNION SQUARE. It actually is a place known for being a salsa club. How I learnt about it? Pick up artists.

Don’t ask me. I just do my job.

But, here is a little snippet of a salsa night there.

Another one of my fave places in Tanjong Pagar, is J Bar.

Located within M Hotel. Its a great place to chill after work. Swish and snazzy on the inside… You can escape the band by heading out to the rooftop area which gives you nice views of the city.

It gets my vote as one of the best places in Tanjong Pagar mainly because during happy hour… the housepours and bottles are ONE FOR ONE!

Speaking of “happy”. There are some “rainbow” happy clubs that are very well known worldwide to the pink community located in this area…

However, if that is not your cup of tea. And you like hogging a mike, a great place to hang out with your friends would be Party World KTV at Shenton Way.

They have a thai bar that is right next door and pretty happening too! *cheeky grin*

This is my fave blog ever.... Its called postasecret and it is one of the most awesome movements.

I wish i had the coffee-table books. I usually spend hours poring my time over the different confessions.

Some are happy and some are sad.

...

I am pretty sad right now because the first place that led me online.... moblogs is closing down. So i am feeling a little lost.

There are about... 4 to 5 years of my life written on that blog. Pictures.. everything.

Some of my deepest thoughts.

But at the same time... Something I learnt yesterday at Care group... reminded me, if we don't let go of the past, how can we embrace the future that was really meant for us.

Meanwhile... I mostly am on Twitter.

I will miss being Hostsara though.
